In a shocking turn of events, the Los Angeles Lakers most recent trade which sent Dalton Knecht to the Charlotte Hornets for Mark Williams has been rescinded, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.
According to Jovan Buha of The Athletic, the trade was canceled due to the Hornets’ failure to satisfy a condition of the trade.
As this is an ongoing breaking development, we will update this story as more information becomes available.
As it stands, Dalton Knecht will be back in a Los Angeles Lakers uniform. While Knecht is a talented player who has flashed some great play as a rookie, this is certainly a blow for the Lakers as they were desperate to add a center.
Now with the trade deadline passed, they will have to make do with the roster they have, which will feature a very small frontcourt and the hope that Jaxson Hayes can develop into a true starting threat.
***Update
Shams has confirmed that Mark Williams’ physical with the Lakers showed multiple issues and the team failed him on the physical exam.
