Los Angeles Dodgers spending huge amount on travel due to unique accomodation

The Los Angeles Dodgers have one of the highest payrolls in baseball thanks to a roster loaded with some of the highest-paid MLB players in 2025. Evidently, an organization known for outspending nearly every team in every facet of baseball operations also reportedly spends big bucks on travel.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported this weekend that the Dodgers are the first team ever to use two planes on their road trips. One plane is used exclusively for players, while the second aircraft is used for the coaching staff and other members of the organization.

The cost is estimated at $6 million, which is believed to be the highest expenditure for travel among all 30 clubs. However, it’s a reflection on how the organization wants to be perceived, with ownership ensuring players are well taken care of.

It’s been reported in the past that the Dodgers typically use 747s for their travel, including for the trip to Japan earlier this season for the Tokyo Series. This season, it’s estimated that the Dodgers will travel over 43,000 miles from March through September.

Even with the massive spending on the roster, front office, coaching staff, player development and scouting, Los Angeles is doing just fine financially. Before the season, Forbes estimated that the Dodgers earned $752 million in revenue this past season.

While the club’s operating income is likely increasing from last season ($21 million), the investment into the club has already produced a World Series title. Paired with how well-regarded the coaching staff and clubhouse are, the Dodgers should continue to maintain one of the best reputations in baseball.
