Los Angeles Dodgers Share Important Injury Update On 2 Starting Pitchers

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ hopes of seeing Blake Snell back on the mound soon continue to dim. The two-time Cy Young Award winner, who hasn’t pitched since April 2, will visit renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache early next week, signaling potential concern over his stalled recovery from a shoulder issue.

Originally expected to resume throwing, Snell has instead faced multiple setbacks, preventing him from making any meaningful progress. According to Orange County Register’s Bill Plunkett, the team is exercising caution and seeking clarity from its medical staff.

Snell, who signed with the Dodgers this past offseason to add a dominant left-handed presence to the rotation, has been limited to just two starts this year. In those appearances, he posted a solid 2.00 ERA over nine innings. Yet his inability to get back on track physically now casts doubt on when — or if — he’ll be ready to return.

Manager Dave Roberts acknowledged the uncertainty but held off on speculating until after Snell’s evaluation.

“I guess I can answer that question more once he sees our team doctors,” Roberts told reporters.

Tyler Glasnow Injury Update

The contrast with fellow starter Tyler Glasnow is striking. Glasnow is also seeing the doctors for a routine check-in but has already resumed throwing as planned, while Snell remains idle. That growing gap is concerning for a Dodgers team that hoped Snell would be a key piece in the rotation down the stretch and into October.

More troubling is the fact that Snell’s injured list placement on April 6 was initially seen as precautionary. At the time, the team downplayed the issue. Now, over a month later and with no clear timetable, the outlook is far murkier.

The Dodgers have managed to stay competitive despite a rash of injuries across their pitching staff, but the hope was that Snell would return as a second-half reinforcement. That scenario now hangs in the balance, and the upcoming visit with Dr. ElAttrache may determine just how long Los Angeles will be without one of its biggest offseason additions.

If Snell is forced to miss significantly more time, it could deliver a serious blow to the Dodgers’ postseason ambitions. His career has seen stretches of brilliance interrupted by physical setbacks — and the latest delay is beginning to feel all too familiar.

The Dodgers will wait for answers. But for now, the outlook on Snell’s season is filled with uncertainty.
