The Los Angeles Dodgers have been repeatedly linked to All-Star third baseman Nolan Arenado, but despite the ongoing speculation, the team has shown little interest in making a move for the 10-time Gold Glove winner.
MLB insider Bob Nightengale recently confirmed that the Dodgers have not expressed interest in acquiring Arenado, with the team still hopeful that third baseman Max Muncy can overcome his early-season struggles. “Meanwhile, (the Cardinals) still are trying to trade All-Star third baseman Nolan Arenado,” Nightengale writes, noting that the Dodgers have remained on the sidelines as St. Louis continues its trade talks.
Los Angeles Dodgers Betting On Muncy

The Cardinals had hoped to deal Arenado during the offseason and came close to unloading the third baseman’s hefty salary to the Houston Astros. However, Arenado exercised his no-trade clause, blocking the potential move. Reports indicate that Arenado had been waiting for a clear response from the Dodgers, wanting them to either pursue a trade or rule it out completely. By the time he reported to Cardinals camp this spring, it became clear that a deal with Los Angeles was unlikely.
As the trade deadline approaches, the Dodgers have not shown any indication that they are actively seeking a trade for Arenado, even with Muncy struggling offensively. Through the season’s early stretch, Muncy is hitting just .176 with a .308 on-base percentage, one home run, and seven RBIs. Defensively, he has also struggled, ranking in the fifth percentile for Outs Above Average.
Despite Muncy’s ongoing issues, the Dodgers remain optimistic that he will improve as the season progresses, with the organization holding firm that he can turn things around without the need for an external solution like Arenado.
