Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star Makes Early Season Case For Most Valuable Player Consideration

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman is locked in—and making a serious early-season case for MVP consideration.

Freeman powered the Dodgers to a commanding 10-1 victory over the Miami Marlins on Wednesday, continuing a torrid stretch at the plate. He went 3-for-4 with four RBIs, further fueling a lineup that’s found its stride in May. The win improved Los Angeles to 25-12, keeping them comfortably atop the National League West.

Now in his 15th MLB season, Freeman is chasing more than just team success. He’s on pace for 3,000 career hits—a milestone fewer than 35 players in baseball history have reached—and he’s currently riding a 12-game hitting streak, batting an eye-popping .478 during that span with eight extra-base hits and 18 RBIs.

Among hitters with at least 90 at-bats, Freeman ranks second in the majors in batting average at .362, trailing only Aaron Judge’s .412 mark, per Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times.

This offensive tear marks a significant turnaround for Freeman, who suffered a bizarre ankle injury in early April after slipping in the shower. Despite the scare, he’s bounced back in MVP-caliber form.

Even on a roster packed with megastars like Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts, Freeman remains one of the Dodgers’ most vital contributors—both at the plate and in the field. His consistency, elite bat-to-ball skills, and leadership make him the quiet engine behind L.A.’s dominance.

If Freeman maintains this pace—especially with his mix of production, reliability, and history—he won’t just be chasing 3,000 hits. He could be chasing his second MVP award.
