Los Angeles Dodgers Provide Cryptic Teoscar Hernandez Injury Update

The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed standout right fielder Teoscar Hernández on the 10-day injured list after he suffered a Grade 1 adductor strain, the team announced ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Miami Marlins.

Hernández exited Monday’s series opener at loanDepot Park in the bottom of the third inning after experiencing tightness in his adductor and hamstring while tracking down a ball in the outfield. Initial imaging confirmed the strain, and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said the injury would sideline the two-time All-Star for a while.

“Obviously, he’s going to be inactive for a while,” Roberts told reporters Tuesday. “I don’t really know a timetable. I think that’s all contingent on when he starts back up again. It’s certainly weeks. But I just don’t know how long. I don’t know.”

On Wednesday, Roberts offered a more encouraging update, saying Hernández could return in approximately two weeks, though the timeline remains fluid depending on how he progresses.

To fill the roster spot, they recalled outfielder James Outman from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Hernández had been a cornerstone in the Dodgers’ lineup this season. He leads the team in hits, doubles, and RBIs, and had started in right field in 33 of the team’s 35 games prior to the injury. Through 33 games, he’s posted a .315/.333/.600 slash line with a .933 OPS, nine home runs, and 34 RBIs.

He was particularly locked in at the plate leading up to the injury, batting .448/.467/.690 with two home runs and nine RBIs in his last seven games.

The Dodgers originally signed Hernández to a one-year deal before the 2024 season, but quickly moved to lock him in long-term after his impact was felt during their playoff run. In January, the club re-signed him to a three-year, $66 million contract.

As the Dodgers continue a grueling stretch of games, they’ll be hoping for a swift recovery from one of their most productive hitters.
