Los Angeles Dodgers Make Last-Minute Emergency Roster Move After Exhausted Bullpen

The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the New York Mets in 13 innings last night at Citi Field. It was one of the more entertaining games of the season, which saw a roughly hour and a half rain delay, a 3-run Mets ninth inning to send the game to extras, and an eventual Dodgers win in 13 innings.

Because of the rain delay, Clayton Kershaw, who started the game, only pitched two innings, forcing Dave Roberts to lean heavily on his already overworked bullpen. All in all, they ended up using eight pitchers throughout the game, and currently have 14 pitchers on the injured list.

Because of all this, the team was forced to make a last-minute emergency roster move, thus calling up Bobby Miller to the active roster.

Los Angeles Dodgers Call Up Pitcher Bobby Miller

Bobby Miller was in a heated competition with Dustin May during Spring Training for the 5th starting spot in the rotation before he was famously struck in the head by a comebacker.

Miller was scheduled to start today for the Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate, Oklahoma City. Tony Gonsolin is scheduled to start tonight for Dave Roberts, but Miller will provide a fresh arm in the bullpen.

Miller has struggled a bit this season with Oklahoma City, but the Dodgers don’t have much of a choice and need his services out of necessity.

With the Comets, he has posted a 1-1 record with a 4.63 ERA. He has 31 strikeouts and a 1.49 WHIP. He did start one game for the Boys in Blue earlier this season, but he only made it through three innings and gave up six earned runs.

First pitch against the Mets today is scheduled for 4:15 PM PT.
