Los Angeles Dodgers Share Andy Pages Update After Missing D-Backs Game

The Los Angeles Dodgers activated veteran outfielder Teoscar Hernández from the injured list this week and optioned James Outman to Triple-A Oklahoma City. While Hernández’s return adds veteran thump back into the lineup, it won’t affect the status of breakout 24-year-old Andy Pages.

Manager Dave Roberts made it clear that Pages is “an everyday player,” noting he’ll receive only occasional rest. That decision comes as no surprise: Pages has been one of the Dodgers’ most productive bats this season, posting a strong .280/.333/.494 line with nine home runs in just 177 plate appearances.

Though Pages’ early numbers are impressive, a deeper look suggests there’s still room for refinement. His walk rate has dipped to 5.6% in 2025, down from 6.5% as a rookie and well below the league average of 8.7%. Meanwhile, he’s trimmed his strikeout rate slightly from 24.4% to 23.2%, inching closer to the 22% league norm.

Pages has made more contact within the strike zone—up from 84.8% to 88.2%—but his swing rate has jumped as well. He’s offered at nearly 54% of pitches seen, placing him among the top 10% in swing frequency league-wide. While aggressive hitters can succeed, Pages ranks below average in quality of contact, suggesting his current production might not be fully sustainable.

Still, even if his bat regresses modestly, Pages’ speed and defense in center field make him a valuable everyday contributor. With Hernández in right, left field will now be handled more flexibly, with Michael Conforto and Tommy Edman rotating depending on matchups and infield configurations.

As the Dodgers chase another deep postseason run, Pages’ continued development will be pivotal—not just for 2025, but for the franchise’s long-term outlook.
