The Los Angeles Dodgers announced a flurry of roster moves on Monday as the team continues to manage a growing list of injuries. Chief among the updates, utilityman Kiké Hernández was placed on the 10-day injured list with left elbow inflammation, a lingering issue that had visibly impacted his swing for weeks, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic
Manager Dave Roberts confirmed the injury had worsened over the weekend, prompting the decision to give Hernández time to rest through the All-Star break. Despite his defensive versatility — having played nearly every position this season — Hernández had struggled at the plate, hitting just .195 with eight home runs and a .626 OPS over 72 games. His production dipped sharply in recent weeks, with a .091 average across his last seven games.

To fill the void, the Dodgers recalled outfielder James Outman from Triple-A Oklahoma City. This marks Outman’s third stint with the big league club in 2025. While his numbers in the majors remain underwhelming (.125/.222/.375 across nine games), his performance in Triple-A has been far more encouraging. In 70 games, Outman hit .289 with 20 home runs, 74 RBI, and 14 stolen bases, though his 30.3% strikeout rate remains a concern.
The team also made additional moves to shuffle its pitching staff. Right-hander Julian Fernández was selected to the active roster, while lefty Justin Wrobleski was optioned. To make space on the 40-man roster for Fernández, infielder CJ Alexander was designated for assignment.
These transactions come at a crucial time for the Dodgers, who are navigating not only a rash of pitching injuries but also increasing attrition among their position players. With Teoscar Hernández and Tommy Edman also nursing injuries, Outman’s recall offers short-term coverage in the outfield, particularly in center field, where depth has grown thin behind rookie Andy Pages.
