Los Angeles Angels Get New Troubling Mike Trout Injury Update Ahead Of Padres Series

In a perfect scenario, Mike Trout would have rejoined the Los Angeles Angels’ lineup over the weekend, making an immediate impact with his trademark power. But baseball’s reality—especially for Trout in recent years—has been far from ideal.

The three-time AL MVP remains on the injured list after suffering a left knee bone bruise during an awkward collision in an April 30 game against the Seattle Mariners. While Trout will travel with the team for their three-game set against the San Diego Padres, fans hoping to see him on the field this week may be disappointed.

“It’ll be some time,” Trout said Saturday, acknowledging that nearly two weeks after the injury, he’s still not running. “I don’t have a day [for return], but I feel great.”

The 11-time All-Star’s upbeat tone offers some encouragement, though his injury history casts a shadow. Trout missed most of last season due to a knee issue and has played more than 120 games just once since 2019.

He opened the 2024 campaign playing in the Angels’ first 29 games, hitting nine home runs. Still, his batting average had dipped to .179 with a .727 OPS—well off his elite career mark of .986—before landing on the IL.

Despite the setback, Trout is staying optimistic. “The sharpness I felt that day in Seattle is gone,” he said. “I have a little dullness here and there, but it’s one of those things where you don’t want to go crazy and have a setback.”
