Rumors were swirling heading into the first round of the draft that the Los Angeles Rams were exploring options to move up in the first round from 19 to 10. Those rumors were confirmed today via a video released by the NFL.
What the video doesn’t confirm is just who the Rams were so eagerly attempting to draft. Speculation is that they wanted to draft Georgia tight end Brock Bowers. But other players linked to the team were also still on the board; defenders Laiatu Latu, Dallas Turner, and Byron Murphy.

General manager, Les Snead offered up both 19 and 52 to Joe Douglas of the New York Jets. When that was rejected, Snead looked to Sean McVay to take the temperature of Minnesota Vikings head coach and former Rams quarterbacks coach, Kevin O’Connell on moving away from pick 11.
There were also reports that the Rams were attempting to trade up to eight with the Atlanta Falcons. The former Rams defensive coordinator is currently the Falcons head coach.
Up until this draft, it had been seven drafts since the Rams had made a selection in the first round. Snead left the door wide open to all options in the run-up to the draft; trading up, trading back, or sticking with 19.
The Rams were unable to make a deal happen to trade up and decided to stand pat on pick 19, taking Jared Verse and eventually trading up in the second round to secure Braden Fiske at 39.
Brock Bowers was picked shortly after those slots at 13 by the Las Vegas Raiders.
