When it rains, it pours when it comes to injuries for the Los Angeles Rams. On Monday morning defensive back John Johnson III announced via X.com that he had suffered a hairline fracture in scapula.
He is expected to miss four to six weeks.

The fallout from the 41-10 loss also included an injury to Cooper Kupp. The Rams came into the game having just put wide receiver Puka Nacua, left guard Steve Avila, and backup offensive lineman Joe Noteboom on the injured/reserve. The defense has also seen its share of injuries, particularly to the secondary. Darious Williams, Tre’ Tomlinson, and Derion Kendrick are all on the IR. Defensive tackle, Larrell Murchison is also on the IR.
Defensive backs Cobie Durant and Quentin Lake were listed on the injury report as questionable ahead of Week 2’s game.
The Rams re-signed the 29-year-old to a one-year contract this summer after signing fellow safety Kamren Curl and drafting safety Kamren Kinchens. In his first game on the season, he played 62 percent of the Rams defensive snaps, second most to just Curl. He split his time between the box and playing deep as well as a few reps as a slot corner.
Kinchens and rookie undrafted free agent Jaylen McCollough are the remaining safeties signed to the active roster. Quentin Lake was originally drafted to play safety but has become the team’s starting nickel corner. They also have 2023 UDFA Tanner Ingle on the practice squad.
They waived Russ Yeast on Saturday, who is currently a free agent.
It may go without saying, but the Rams may be looking to add more defensive backs via trade or adding free agents. Safeties Micah Hyde and Jayron Kearse are both currently free agents.
