Los Angeles Rams Predicted To Cut Matthew Stafford, Replace In 2025 Draft

What the Los Angeles Rams are planning to do in the near future about the most important position in the game is perhaps the least talked about big problem in the league. They currently have the 36-year-old Matthew Stafford looking more and more like an aging quarterback and no viable options behind him as a successor.

Bleacher Report took a stab at predicting what will happen to LA at the position. The first aspect they pointed out was the financial benefit to the Rams, who currently have the most expensive offense in the league.

Los Angeles Rams Cut Matthew Stafford

“Per Spotrac, the Rams can save $27 million against the 2025 salary cap by parting with Matthew Stafford as a post-June 1 release, which is entirely possible if they determine the veteran is no longer a worthy asset at age 37.”

It wouldn’t be an unexpected move for the team to part ways with older players next offseason. They have a handful of young players in which they can rebuild around; Puka Nacua, Steve Avila, and Kyren Williams on offense and Jared Verse, Braden Fiske, and Kobie Turner on defense.

Draft Georgia QB, Carson Beck

This is what the predictor sees and they looking once again to the Georgia Bulldogs to solve their quarterbacking needs.

Carson Beck: It’s time for this team to get out of purgatory and sell off all remaining expensive, aged parts. And with that, a first-round pick on a quarterback. Beck makes sense in the middle of Round 1.”

“Despite a disappointing senior season, the Georgia product just might have the football IQ and efficient habits required to become a solid NFL starter. We’ll see if that gets him into the first round.”

Stafford Off To Rival

Bleacher Report expects Stafford then to sign with the Seattle Seahawks;

“The Giants, Raiders, and Titans might take interest if the Rams part ways, but Stafford might prefer to join a more competitive Seattle team to wind down his career. The Jets may not want to go down the Rodgers path, and Seattle could see this as a great opportunity to upgrade with the window open.”

Regardless of if this is how the actual transactions unfold, their need at the position becomes increasingly important as time goes by. If it is, it won’t be a popular decision, but one that needs to be made.
