Los Angeles Rams Predicted To Trade Cooper Kupp To New East Coast Contender

When the Los Angeles Rams were 1-4 heading into their bye week calls for the front office to blow it up had reached a fever pitch. Included with that were rumors the team would trade veteran star wide receiver Cooper Kupp.

And according to reporting, the Rams engaged in talks to move the former triple crown winner. “Sources with knowledge of those conversations said the Rams indicated to them that they would be open to taking on some of Kupp’s remaining salary in 2024. wrote The Athletic in late October of last year. ” Also, “Those sources added that the Rams indicated to them they were seeking a second-round pick.” Furthermore, “Trade conversations began between the Rams and other teams earlier this fall, league sources said.”

Nothing came of those talks but with Kupp’s waning performance and the Rams’ bloated offensive payroll questions about his future with the team have resurfaced.

Most recently, Bleacher Report predicts Kupp will be traded to the Washington Commanders in this proposal:

Commanders Get: WR Cooper Kupp

Rams Get: 2025 3rd-round pick, 2025 7th-round pick

“However, regardless of how far the Rams go in the playoffs, they should consider moving on from the 31-year-old wide receiver. Kupp has missed 18 games over the last three years because of injuries. He hasn’t topped 812 receiving yards since he won the triple crown receiving title in 2021.

Furthermore, Puka Nacua has emerged as the Rams’ go-to receiver. In 2023 and 2024, he led the team in catches and receiving yards. Los Angeles could find a No. 2 receiver in the upcoming draft. General manager Les Snead took Kupp in the third round in 2017.

Though Kupp’s receiving numbers have declined, he’s a reliable chain-mover who can be a safety blanket for a developing quarterback. The Washington Commanders can help Jayden Daniels with this move. Washington’s offense needs a No. 2 wide receiver option. Behind Terry McLaurin, 34-year-old tight end Zach Ertz finished second on the team in catches (66), receiving yards (654) and touchdown receptions (seven).”

The Rams are equal parts head and heart when it comes to player personnel. While they have cut ties with beloved team members, Kupp has garnered favored nation status, at least among the coaching staff.

But the ultimate decision on the trade will come down to Les Snead, who hasn’t flinched when moving on from fan-favorite players.

The trade along with players at the end of their contract would create a large void in the receiving corps depth chart. Without Kupp, the Rams would only have sophomore, Jordan Whittington, Xavier Smith and Nacua under contract for next season.
