Bleacher Report recently made their prediction for what the Lakers will do before that fateful day; Nothing. They predicted the same for the Golden State Warriors.

“Two of the teams that definitely need to do something at the trade deadline, the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers will be disappointingly silent,” writes Greg Swartz.

“Rob Pelinka and the Lakers have been very protective of their future first-round picks and still have possession of their 2029 and 2031 first-rounders,” Swartz continues. “Los Angeles has enough assets to land a third star, yet has long seemed more interested in holding on to future picks instead of maximizing the remaining few years of the greatest basketball player in history.”

It is hard to assume how long James will remain in his present form, but the end is sooner than it ever has been before. James believes he can play until he is 45, but he likely recognizes that his chances to add a fifth championship ring to his collection are fading.

Given his level of discontent with the state of the roster, James may demand a trade out of Los Angeles.
