Roki Sasaki was officially posted on December 9, and it has been a blitz since to earn his services. The Los Angeles Dodgers have always been viewed as the favorite, which appears to be the case still.
According to ESPN MLB Insider, Buster Olney, the Dodgers are “probably the betting favorite among execs.”
Sasaki is eligible to sign with an MLB team any time between now and January 23.
Per Bruce Levine of 670 The Score, Sasaki met with the Cubs yesterday, but the interesting nugget is that all meetings are taking place in Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Favorite For Roki Sasaki
Nothing is guaranteed, but everything certainly seems to be playing in the Dodgers’ favor.
MLB.com’s Jonathan Mayo conducted a survey with executives around the league. The Dodgers led all teams with 11 votes as the team most likely to sign Sasaki. The San Diego Padres came in second with seven votes, and no other team received more than one vote.

Something to note. According to his agent, Joel Wolfe, when deciding where to sign, Sasaki is prioritizing the club’s track record with Japanese players, overall success, and history with developing pitchers.

The Dodgers are looking to repeat as World Series Champs and signing Sasaki will certainly help that effort.
