After weeks of back and forth, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Teoscar Hernandez have seemingly agreed to a new contract.
Hernandez posted to social media “I’m Back” which was shortly followed up by a post by Doug McKain of Dodgers Nation, “Sources confirm that Teoscar Hernández and the Los Angeles Dodgers are in agreement on a 3-year, $66 million contract.”
Dodgers Re-Sign Teoscar Hernandez
The team’s pursuit of re-signing Teoscar Hernández stalled due to disagreements over contract terms, particularly regarding deferred compensation. The Boston Red Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays were the teams that were in hot pursuit of the slugger.
Rumors surfaced about several other players they were considering had the deal not gone through that included, Anthony Santander, Nolan Arenado, Luis Roberts, and Seiya Suzuki. While this is not likely the last move they make this offseason, it seems the alternative outfielders now will be a lower priority, with pitching and finding perhaps another infielder moving into the top spot.
With the signing of Michael Conforto earlier this winter, the Dodger’s outfield will likely now feature, Tommy Edman, Conforto, and Hernandez as the club’s top options, with Mookie Betts moving to shortstop.
