Perhaps the biggest will they/ won’t they from the Los Angeles Dodgers offseason is whether or not they will make Teoscar Hernandez a Dodger once again.
Hernandez made no bones about it heading into free agency; “I’m going to do everything in my power to come back,” Hernández said after the Dodgers’ World Series parade.
Hernandez/Dodgers Free Agency Saga Continues
Despite his open invitation LA has failed to meet the threshold to seal the deal with the 32-year-old outfielder. Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report suggested Hernández could land a five-year, $100 million contract with the New York Yankees.
With that, Hernandez’s representation took him to the open market where he received attention from the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, and Toronto Blue Jays.
According to Doug McKain, “..Hernandez has received multiple offers, but is still prioritizing re-signing with LA, sources tell me. The Blue Jays are currently in 2nd, with the Red Sox a distant 3rd. The Yankees are less of a priority. The Phillies and Reds have also checked in.
The big separating factor must be money, since Hernandez has also expressed interest playing in Boston, particularly for Red Sox manager Alex Cora
While they have added Michael Conforto to their outfield, questions remain about their commitment to re-signing Hernández. Fans are left wondering why the team paused negotiations with Hernández, especially considering his strong performance and potential fit with the team.
Hernández enjoyed a career year in 2024, hitting .272 with 33 home runs and 99 RBIs. His strong performance and positive impact on the team’s clubhouse made him a popular figure among fans.
