The Los Angeles Dodgers superstar, Shohei Ohtani, became the first player in MLB history to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in the same season.
The momentous 50th home run came off of Miami Marlins pitcher Mike Baumann in the top of the seventh inning. It was Ohtani’s second of three home runs on the day. He also has two stolen bases in the game.
Shohei Ohtani’s Home Run Ball Worth A Lot
The person who ended up with the ball could see upwards of a half-million dollars. Darren Rovell, founder of cllct Media, believes Ohtani’s 50th home run ball is worth $500,000 or more.
Rovell added that the Dodgers own Ohtani’s jersey, pants, socks, hat, and helmet from the significant occasion.
Ohtani has been a popular figure to collect within the hobby community for years. His autographed 2021 All-Star jersey scored over $130,000 at MLB Auctions.
The two-way star’s most expensive card to date is his 2018 Bowman Chrome Red Refractor Autograph /5 that sold for $276,000.

Ohtani signed the richest contract in sports history, agreeing to a 10-year, $700 million deal with the Dodgers in the offseason.
He is well on his way to a third MVP award after winning two with the Los Angeles Angels. If he’s named MVP, he will be the first full-time designated hitter to capture the award. Ohtani has been unable to pitch this season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
It’s quite remarkable what Ohtani has accomplished — not only has he switched teams and leagues, it was found out his former translator stole $17 million from the All-Star over several years. Ippei Mizuhara pled guilty and is facing up to 30 years in prison.
The Dodgers are currently first in the National League West and are battling the Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Brewers to secure a first-round bye in the playoffs.
