Two Los Angeles Chargers Selected to PFF’s All-Decade Team (2015-2024)

Pro Football Focus held a mock draft using their proprietary grades to pick the 32 best single-season players of the last 10 years and the Los Angeles Chargers had two selections. Joey Bosa came in the third position and Justin Herbert at number 6.

2 Los Angeles Chargers Make All-Decade Team

Here is what PFF’s NFL Analyst, Trevor Sikkema wrote about each player.

  1. JOEY BOSA, (2016)
Bosa has slowed down the past year or two, with his age and injuries catching up to him. But we can’t forget that he earned an elite PFF overall grade in five of his first six years with four elite pass-rush grades.
  1. JUSTIN HERBERT (2020)
Herbert’s and Jaylen Waddle’s PFF numbers are close, as both have one elite season alongside other successful years, but Herbert wins out due to the difficulty of the quarterback position — and for how well he played last season amid less-than-ideal circumstances.

Honorable Mention:

Derwin James was in consideration at pick 17. Sikkema cited James’s strong start but steady decline for choosing CeeDee Lamb at the spot. Since joining the Chargers, James has 370 tackles, 32 passes defended, 8 interceptions, 156 stops, 24 tackles for loss, and 13 sacks per PFF.

Snub?

Mike Williams wasn’t considered, but his 15.6 yards per reception is second-best among active players. He is just .1 yards behind AJ Brown. Injuries have certainly stopped him from reaching the apex receiver conversation, but his production when healthy is undeniable. Not to mention he caught 309 passes for 4806 yards and 31 touchdowns playing across from another great wide receiver, Keenan Allen.
