The prevailing narrative about the 2023 Los Angeles Chargers is that the team underperformed and perhaps some players even gave up on the season. A 5-12 seasons resulting in a top to bottom restructure is not where anyone expected the Chargers to be, but wide receiver Joshua Palmer doesn’t see 2023 as the apocalypse that fans experienced.
2023 Los Angeles Chargers From Joshua Palmer’s Perspective
“It just wasn’t swinging our way. A lot of the games we were losing were very tight. If we had won those games we wouldn’t be having this conversation, about [hiring] a new coach,” Palmer told the Chargers Unleashed podcast of the LAFB Network, “A lot of those games came down to one play or one kick or one first down to decide the game. And we were on the losing side of a lot of those games. Everybody showed up to work to win. At no point did we ever just throw in the towel. We don’t have those types of players. We were all trying to finish as good as we could.”
The Chargers played in 11 one-score games in 2023 and lost 8 of those contests half of those games were decided by a last-minute field goal.
Palmer went on to say the only thing he could focus on is his own personal improvement and described how important Keenan Allen has been to his development. Watch the entire interview here.
