What Is The Verdict About The Chargers Playoff Hopes?

Despite losing in dramatic fashion at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens, the Los Angeles Chargers still have great odds of making the playoffs. They are currently the sixth seed and are given anywhere between 82 to 93 percent chance of making the playoffs.

But regardless of whether or not they make the playoffs, the bigger question is can they compete against the best teams in the AFC? The teams they have beaten currently have a combined winning percentage of .333 and a combined record of 26 and 52. The only team they have beaten with a winning record is the 7-5 Denver Broncos. Meanwhile, the teams they have been beaten by have a .711 winning percentage and are a combined 31-13.

But in his recent article for the 33rd Team Marcus Mosher remains confident the Chargers can compete against bonafide playoff teams.

Chargers Are The Team You Don’t Want To Play In The Postseason

The Los Angeles Chargers have a difficult remaining schedule, with games left against the Falcons, Chiefs, Buccaneers, and Broncos. However, with seven wins in tow, they need just two or three more to clinch a wild-card spot. That shouldn’t be too difficult with the Patriots and Raiders to finish out their season.

While they might not finish the regular season with an elite record, they have a great chance to emerge from the AFC this season for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, the duo of Jim Harbaugh and Justin Herbert is one of the best in the NFL, and those two will give them a fighting chance in every matchup.

Their defense has also been outstanding for most of the year, and it should allow them to stay competitive in the postseason. The Chargers will be playing on the road in the playoffs, so having a top-notch defense should give them some hope. Harbaugh has built a tough, physical team that is perfect for postseason play. No one is going to want to see this team in Round 1 or Round 2 of the playoffs.
