Chargers Named Among 4 Teams With Best Chance Of Landing Tee Higgins

The Los Angeles Chargers have been linked to nearly every trade-worthy wide receiver for the last few weeks. Even as Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston emerge as viable receiving threats, the excitement around adding a bonafide game-breaking pass catcher is still at a fever pitch.

Cincinnati Bengals WR Tee Higgins has been included in that conversation for several weeks heading up to today’s NFL trade deadline. While a debate can be had about whether the Bengals would move him or if the Chargers now suddenly value wide receivers, Vegas odds name the Chargers among the top four teams to land the fifth-year pass catcher.

Chargers Given Best Odds To Land Higgins IF The Bengals Trade

Bovada has Chargers, Pittsburgh Stealers, New York Jets, and Washington Commanders tied with +1000 odds to land the two-time 1000+ yard receiver IF the Bengals decide to trade him.

Of course, that ‘IF’ looms large, as it takes two to tango in the world of trades. The Bengals may believe that sitting at 4-5, they have a shot to make the playoffs. This may be why they traded for Chicago Bears running back, Khalil Herbert in the wake of an injury to their running back Zach Moss.

There have been several reports that have taken Higgins out of the trade market, but given the contract dispute ahead of this season, it doesn’t bode well for the Bengals to keep him long-term, as they are unlikely to match a Higgins-hungry team once he reaches free agency in a few short months. So, it makes sense for the team to get something for him, if they are unable to re-sign him.

So far in five games this season, he has caught 29 passes for 341 yards and three touchdowns. And that is on a team where he is not the top-receiving threat.

The 6’4″ 219-pound receiver would offer Justin Herbert a proven big sideline threat like he had in Mike Williams and like other receivers the team has brought on, but who have failed to manifest as viable threats.
