Los Angeles is burning. With wind gusts reaching nearly 100 MPH in some areas, the fires have grown and caused devastation throughout the Southland.
For many of us (I, with my family, evacuated last night from our home in Pasadena), football is not on our minds at the moment.
While both the Los Angeles Chargers and the Los Angeles Rams are preparing for first-round playoff matchups, many of us, including members of both organizations, are reeling.
However, if there is one thing that sports provide, it is a sense of community, and communities support each other and rebuild.
While it is going to take a herculean effort to rebuild and get through this devastation together, the Los Angeles Chargers have provided a glimmer of hope in this time of need.
Los Angeles Chargers To Donate $200,000 To LA Area Organizations
It was announced that the Chargers organization will be donating $200,000 to LA area organizations to help with fire relief. These donations will be directed to the Red Cross, LAFD Foundation, Team Rubicon, and several pet rescues and shelters.
Chargers Owner Dean Spanos had this to say about the horrible tragedy still occurring in our City.
The post reads:
“The bravery, selflessness, courage, sacrifice, and compassion on display over the past 24 hours by first responders, good samaritans, friends, family, and neighbors alike has been remarkable.”
What the City could also use right now is a win. The Chargers are preparing for their playoff matchup with the Texans on Saturday in Houston.
