A big question the Los Angeles Chargers faced this offseason was who would replace Mike Williams and Keenan Allen. One of their attempts to answer that question was signing veteran DJ Chark. But they have had to wait to find out if he could meet the team’s needs as he started the year on the injured reserve with a hip injury.
Chark is Active For the Chargers
Now 10 weeks later, it seems like Chark will finally get back to the field of play. He was elevated off injured reserve last week but was made inactive ahead of the Chargers game against the Cleveland Browns. But this week they have announced he will be active versus the Tennessee Titans.
The timing is quite fortuitous as they have moved WR Simi Fehoko to the IR. Chark will likely eat into Josh Palmer’s playing time.
The passing attack has found its sea legs over the last four weeks as the wide receivers and quarterback Justin Herbert have found rhythm and chemistry, especially Ladd McConkey. The Chargers have surpassed 200 yards passing in each of those games.
Chark was most recently a member of the Carolina Panthers last season. 2023 was his best and most complete season in three years. Most importantly he played in 15 games, tied for most in his career, he also caught a three-season high in catches, (35) yards (525), and touchdowns (5).
Injuries have been the most defining factor in Chark’s career. He has never played a full slate of games in six seasons.
