Los Angeles Chargers: ‘Dicker The Kicker’ Revels Who Is Team’s Best Golfer and His Secret To a Good Golf Game

The 4th annual Los Angeles Chargers Invitational was held on June 3rd at Rolling Hills Country Club. The event featured Chargers legends LaDainian Tomlinson, current stars Justin Herbert and Derwin James Jr., and new fan favorite, kicker, Cameron Dicker. Dicker was mic’d up for the event.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Los Angeles Chargers Impact Fund.

Who is the Los Angeles Chargers Best Golfer?

The hot mic caught Dicker talking golf with Derwin James. It starts with a common golf course discourse; “I’m better at putting okay I suck at driving.” Dicker then tells James, “You need to get a simulator. You should get one, D. It’s nice. Have you not played Justin [Herbert’s]? It’s nice.

Dicker then describes Herbert’s golf game as “Like insane. He’s insane. He’s really good.”

But Justin Herbert isn’t the Chargers best golfer. Rather it is none other than long snapper Josh Harris. A cursory look at Harris’ Instagram doesn’t reveal a golf-obsessed man, but rather a footballer, a proud husband, and a father of 4 children.

But Dicker describes Harris’ golf game in glowing and undeniable terms.

“Josh Harris is better [than Herbert] but he’s really good. Josh Harris is better. Dude, Josh Harris shoots par. Josh Harris is the best golfer on our team. For real. He’s had a lot of time, Derwin. 13 years in the league, come on.

It stands to reason that long snappers may have more time in the offseason to hit the links than your average NFL’er and 13 years experience likely helps him free up even more time for hobbies.

Cameron Dicker’s Secret To Improving at Golf

At one point Dicker proclaims, “Man, I need a hot dog.” LA’s famous, Pink’s Hot Dogs was on hand to fulfill his request. He ordered a hot dog with ketchup and onions. This is Dicker’s secret weapon.

“Every time I eat a hot dog, my golf game goes up.”

The food and/or ritualized eating of it tempted Dicker to bring what he called “a pocket dog” to prepare in the event he couldn’t get ahold of the magical frankfurter.
