Michigan head football coach Jim Harbaugh has been linked a ton to the Los Angeles Chargers’ head coaching job. It’s been all of the talk in Southern California.
About that? Harbaugh completed his long-awaited initial intervew with the Chargers brass. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport was the first to report the news.
The interview was public record ahead of its completion. But this makes things real for the Chargers as they look for a full-time replacement for Brandon Staley.
Los Angeles’ focus in finding a new head coach has primarily been on the defensive side of the ball. This doesn’t mean much in that Harbaugh would be an absolute coup for the downtrodden organization.

Los Angeles Chargers Should Go All In For Jim Harbaugh
Harbaugh has posted an absurd 89-25 record as the Michigan Wolverines head coach. Despite external drama, he’s coming off a 2023 season in which they won the national title.
Harbaugh is considered one of the best football coaches in the nation. For good reason. During his four-year stint as the San Francisco 49ers head coach from 2011-14, his team posted a 44-19-1 record with three NFC Championship Game and one Super Bowl appearance. We’re sure Chargers fans would take that without looking back.
From a pure fit standpoint, Harbaugh makes a ton of sense. He helped the likes of Andrew Luck (Stanford), Colin Kaepernick (49ers) and J.J. McCarthy (Michigan) improve leaps and bounds when he coached them.
The Chargers have given Justin Herbert the keys to the proverbial kingdom. Teaming him up with Harbaugh just makes too much sense.
Alas, we’ll see what happens on this front. But Chargers fans should have their fingers crossed until they get a spasm.
