With the Royal Rumble on the horizon, Smackdown Live pulled out moments like crowning a new U.S. champion. Here is my SmackDown Summary.

The New Day kicked off the show with Xavier Woods U.S title speech. He wants people’s vote as U.S champion. The Singh Brothers come out to introduce Jinder Mahal.

Analysis: Glad they changed it up rather than doing another Shane McMahon/Daniel Bryan segment to open the show. The New Day are still entertaining as always.

Jinder Mahal def. Xavier Woods by pinfall to move on in the U.S title tournament.

Analysis: The match was okay. I wish they would give it to Xavier here though.Bobby Roode def. Mojo Rawley by pinfall to move on to the tournament.

The Singh brothers attack Roode and Roode says let’s have the U.S title match tonight. Jinder says no but Daniel comes out and says the match will happen tonight.

Analysis: Good match. Glad that Bobby won. I’m surprised they are having the U.S title match tonight instead. Mojo still is not convincing in the ring.

The Riott Squad def. Charlotte, Becky Lynch, and Naomi

Analysis: Okay match. Really did nothing for me.Bobby Roode def. Jinder Mahal by pinfall to win the U.S Championship.

Analysis: Pretty good match. The right guy won. It kinda makes sense to have the title match for this show since there is a good card for the Rumble.

Overall: This was a decent SmackDown. It was at least watchable for me and better than last week’s show. I am eager to see how SmackDown follows up the 25th Anniversary show for Raw next week.
