The Week 2: Los Angeles Chargers injury report vs. the Dallas Cowboys has each team coming into the game with a decent size injury list. While the Chargers are showing seven players on their injury list. Dallas is showing one less, with six players listed.

Week 2: Los Angeles Chargers Injury Report vs. Dallas Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys:

The big names on Dallas’s injury list are DeMarcus Lawrence, Ty Nsekhe, Donovan Wilson, and Damontae Kazee. The all-pro defensive end is suffering from a foot injury. He is listed as out going into this Sunday’s game. First, with the absence of Lawrence coming off of the edge, the Chargers run game could be really effective against the Dallas defensive front. This also means Herbert might find himself having more time in the pocket.

Next, Ty Nsekhe is also ruled out of this Sunday’s game, due to heat exhaustion. Nsekhe suffered from exhaustion symptoms earlier this week, and was ruled out on Friday. With the offensive tackle out, Dallas’s O-line may not be at full strength, which could boost well for the Chargers defensive ends. La’el Collins is also out the next five games on suspension.

Lastly, starting safety Donovan Wilson is listed as questionable with a groin injury, and strong safety Damontae Kazee is also listed as questionable with a thigh injury. The secondary of Dallas should be vulnerable to the Chargers passing game. Some other Cowboys players on the list are rookies Chauncey Golston (DE), and Nahshon Wright (CB). Golston is suffering from a hamstring injury but is listed as able to play, and Wright having a NIR-Personal situation. He did practice Thursday and Friday. He is expected to be available on Sunday.

Los Angeles Chargers:

The Chargers injury list is also one that could be of concern as some key names are listed as either out, or questionable.

Chargers Injury List:

Nasir Adderley (S), the third-year safety is suffering from a groin injury. He is listed as questionable for Sunday, and this could be a weak point in the secondary come Sunday.

Kyler Fackrell (OLB), is dealing with a knee injury. He did not practice on Wednesday, had limited practice on Thursday, and had a full practice on Friday. He is listed as available to play on Sunday.

Chris Harris Jr. (CB), is dealing with a shoulder injury and he did not participate in practice all week. He is listed as out for Sunday. This is a blow to an already weakened Chargers secondary.

Derwin James Jr. (S), is dealing with a toe injury and missed Wednesday’s practice, but participated in Thursday, and Friday’s practice. He should be ready to go on Sunday. Although toe injuries are nagging, and it will be interesting to see if it bothers him during the game.

Justin Jones (DL), is dealing with a calf injury. Jones did not participate in practice all week and is doubtful for Sunday. I would expect to see him suited, but probably not getting much playing time, if any at all. This is a spot to watch on the defensive line.Trey Marshall (DB), is dealing with an ankle injury. Trey had limited practice on Wednesday but participated in full on Thursday and Friday. He is listed as able to play on Sunday.

Tristan Vizcaino (K), the Chargers’ 1st-year kicker, is battling an illness. He missed practice on Wednesday, had limited practice on Thursday, and was full on Friday. He is available to play on Sunday.

With most of the Chargers injuries being reported on defense. This could be a potential problem for them later in games. Having key players like Harris out, and Jones listed as doubtful, these could be spots of concern against a talented Dallas offense.

Here are the bright spots, James will be available to play as well as Fackrell. This means as long as they are not bothered by their injuries, they should be able to give the defense the support it will need against Dallas.

This is expected to be an exciting game. With both teams coming in with injuries mostly on the defensive side of the ball, it should make for some good explosive offensive plays during the game.
