*Update: This is now official, as Jide Abasiri announced this morning on X.com that he is flipping his commitment to USC. This is the first defensive flip to the USC Trojans since D’Anton Lynn was hired as DC just a short while ago. I expect a few more to make the decision to flip to USC before National Letter of Intent Day on December 20th.

Lincoln Riley and D’Anton Lynn have been busy on the USC Trojans recruiting trail ever since the regular season ended. This past weekend was also a big weekend as many recruits and transfer portal players paid a visit to the USC campus.

One of those players that visited was Minnesota Gopher three-star DL commit Jide Abasiri. The 6-5, 290-pound incoming freshman had been committed to his hometown Minnesota since March of this year.

USC offered Abasiri on November 19th, and he officially visited on December 9th. Upon his return home, he announced his decommitment from Minnesota on X.com.

Jide Abasiri Announces Decommitment After USC Trojans Recruiting Visit

After a long talk and consideration with my family I have decided to decommit from the University of Minnesota. Thank you to all the coaches at Minnesota for helping and believing and me

D’Anton Lynn has only been with the program for a week but he is already making his presence known. Just yesterday, Vanderbilt Transfer Portal DL Nate Clifton committed to USC, and now Jide Abasiri has de-committed from Minnesota with the expectation of committing to USC. This is not official yet, we will update you as soon as it is, but 247Sports is predicting that he will flip to SC.

It’s only two players, but you can tell that the program is already committing to what they have been preaching since the season ended about size and versatility. Nate Clifton fits the bill, and the 6-5 incoming freshman Abasiri fits that bill.

The transfer portal and recruiting commits will be fast and furious over the next couple of weeks. Keep it right here at LAFBNetwork.com for all the updates.
