BREAKING: USC Trojans Hire New Linebackers Coach From Powerhouse Program

When we spoke to USC Trojans defensive coordinator D’Anton Lynn on Tuesday, he said that he had yet to meet his defensive coaching staff as he was immediately out on the road recruiting. Coach Lincoln Riley said on Monday that they were going to put together the best defensive staff possible, whether those were coaches already in-house, or bringing new coaches in from outside the program.

According to Logan Campbell of WDAY TV News in Fargo, North Dakota, the current head coach of the North Dakota State Bison, Matt Entz, is heading to USC to become a Linebackers coach. He was also given the title of Assistant Head Coach for the Defense, per Lincoln Riley.

This has since been confirmed by the University and head coach Lincoln Riley.

“Having a championship-caliber staff is instrumental to the success of our team,” said Riley. “By welcoming Matt Entz, a championship-winning head coach, and outstanding defensive mind, we are bolstering our defensive staff. He is going to be an excellent addition to the USC football program.”

Entz has been the Head Coach at North Dakota State since 2019. Before that, he served as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach from 2014-2018 when the program became a powerhouse in the FCS and won seven straight championships under head coach Chris Klieman.

Since taking over the head coaching duties, he has a 60-10 record and led the Bison to 2 more FCS Championships.

The Bison are currently still in a playoff run, and Matt Entz will remain the NDSU head coach through the remainder of the playoffs.
