The UCLA Fighting Irish, I mean, the UCLA Bruins have landed another Notre Dame transfer portal commit, and this might be the most important one yet. Offensive Lineman, Michael Carmody, became the 4th former Golden Domer to commit to Chip Kelly and UCLA Football on Sunday.

Carmody announced on his Instagram with the following caption:

“To Notre Dame, the last four years of my life have been a blessing. Thank you to the coaches who gave me the opportunity to become a Notre Dame football player and to my teammates for making ND such a special place. It has been an honor to battle with you guys.”

“With that being said I have decided that it is time for me to find my next opportunity to continue my journey in this game that I love. I will be entering the transfer portal with multiple years of eligiblity. Love Thee.”

Michael Carmody joined the Fighting Irish as a four-star recruit in 2020 and was the number 17 tackle in the class according to On3 rankings.

Carmody went down with a hand injury this past fall camp, but it would have been tough for him to see the field regardless with Joe Alt and Blake Fisher ahead of him on the depth chart.

The 6’5, 291-pound tackle joins a UCLA offensive line room that desperately needs reinforcements. We will see how the depth chart looks entering spring ball, but Carmody will seemingly be slotted as one of the starting tackles.

With the return of QB Ethan Garbers, and Number 1 wideout J. Michael Sturdivant, the offensive line was the next point of emphasis for Chip Kelly. Carmody will give them a major boost.
