The Los Angeles Rams still have a loaded roster heading into 2022. Most agree that the team’s top-end talent is as good as anyone in the NFL. However, this list proves just how talented the team is. While most franchises would love to have one Top 10 NFL Player, the Los Angeles Rams have four. In other words, out of 32 teams with 53 players per team, the Rams have four Top 10 NFL Players on their roster. Here’s a look at who makes the list. Keep in mind that this list lets the most recent feats shine the brightest.
How many Top 10 NFL players are on the Rams?
Aaron Donald, DT
Most agree that Aaron Donald is the best defensive player in football, despite being on the plus-side of 30 years old and openly talking about retirement. Of course, with the new deal inked, the defensive tackle isn’t going anywhere this season. Donald is a shoo-in for the Top 10 NFL players list. Despite his contract ups and downs, the pass rusher’s talent is unmatched. Teams routinely double and triple-team him, and he still finds a way to get solid production. His influence goes beyond his individual stats. All that extra attention makes the lives of the rest of the Rams defenders far easier
Since 2017, he’s had zero sub-10 sack seasons. In 2018, he nearly earned the record for sacks recorded in a single season at 20.5. Put simply, he’s been the best player on the team over the long haul and continues his run in 2022.
Cooper Kupp, WR
Cooper Kupp, a respected wide receiver in local circles for a number of seasons, saw his A-game jump to SSS+ in 2021. Without Cooper Kupp, Sean McVay would still be chasing his first Super Bowl victory. The reigning Super Bowl MVP nearly earned 2000 receiving yards in 2021 and is still in his 20s, the wide receiver could still play at top strength for another few years.
Of course, now with his name on the map this year, he will see tougher coverages every game. He is being joined by Allen Robinson and perhaps Odell Beckham Jr. There are only so many throws to go around. Will Kupp be able to follow in Donald’s footsteps in terms of overcoming double and triple teams as ferociously in 2022?
Matthew Stafford, QB
Of course, with so many good players in the NFL, Stafford doesn’t exactly lead the list of “Top 10 NFL Players,” but he definitely deserves a spot on the list after winning a Super Bowl in his first season with his new team. The last quarterback to pull off that feat? Tom Brady. In 2021, Stafford joined the 40-touchdown club in addition to his late-game heroics in the Super Bowl. Going into 2022, any argument against Stafford is an argument against Brady, who no doubt has a spot on any Top 10 NFL Player list. Keep in mind Stafford also swept Brady in both matchups in 2021.
Jalen Ramsey, CB
Jalen Ramsey sneaks in at the bottom of the exclusive Top 10 NFL Players list. Put simply, with Jalen Ramsey, the Jacksonville Jaguars made it to the AFC Championship game with Blake Bortles at quarterback. Since joining the Rams, the team has ended one year with a Super Bowl and another year with the top-ranked defense. Since 2020, Ramsey has earned a 79.8 PFF grade and an 84.5 PFF grade. Put simply, besides Aaron Donald, no defensive player has been as consistent and impactful as Ramsey over the last two years. Ramsey is always in the conversation as the best corner in the league Looking further back, it is clear that defensive success tends to follow the cornerback.
