SmackDown Summary

Things are sure to heat up and matches are sure to be made tonight with only two more Smackdowns until Wrestlemania.

Join me as I recap what went down on the March 27th episode of Smackdown Live.

Opening Segment

We open with a recap of Daniel Bryan’s return and Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens attacking both Shane McMahon and Bryan.

Bobby Roode & Randy Orton vs. Jinder Mahal & Sunil Singh

Jinder claims that Sunil Singh is unable to compete, but he has a new tag team partner: Rusev.

Roode and Orton argue early as we cut to commercial. Roode and Randy go back and forth blind tagging each other. Rusev and Mahal dominate the match. The two teams trade false finishes.

Mahal pushes Roode into Orton. Orton RKOs Roode which allows Rusev to hit the Matcha Kick followed by the pin for the win.

After the match, Rusev tells Mahal backstage that he going to make the triple threat match at Mania into a Fatal Four-way.

Backstage Segment

Shinsuke Nakamura and AJ Styles are found backstage. Nakamura asks  Styles to be in his corner tonight for Nakamura’s match against Shelton Benjamin.

Becky Lynch vs. Ruby Riott

The two go back and forth early. The two continue to go back and forth with Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan interfering now and again. Lynch goes for the Dis-Arm-Her but Riott rolls her up. Lynch reverses with a roll-up of her own for the victory.

Daniel Bryan Segment

Bryan gets chants galore as he waits on the stage. Daniel proposes a match: Owens and Zayn vs. Shane McMahon and Bryan. If McMahon and Bryan win, Owens and Zayn are fired. if Zayn and Owens win, they’re re-hired. Bryan claims he will “kick their ass.”

New Day vs. Bludgeon Brothers

We come back from commercial to find the brothers in dominant form. The Usos come down to interfere and the match is ended due to disqualification.  The Usos and New Day walk away somewhat unscathed. It is later announced that The Usos will face the New Day and the Bludgeon Brothers in a triple threat match for the SmackDown tag team titles at WrestleMania.

Tyler Breeze vs. Dolph Ziggler

The two go back and forth trading pinfalls. Ziggler hits the Zig-Zag for the quick win.

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Shelton Benjamin

Nakamura takes command as we cut to commercial. Nakamura goes for the Kinshasa, but is distracted by Gable. The two trade submissions until Nakamura hits Benjamin with the Kinshasa for the win.

Conclusion

A great Smackdown tonight, filled with plenty of great matches and a plethora of matches made for WrestleMania.
