Seahawks hope to ruin Chiefs #1 seed hopes

The Chiefs have not done a lot wrong in 2018. They hold an 11-3 record and sit in a tie for top spot in the AFC West with the Chargers. In 2017, Patrick Mahomes spent the year on the sideline watching Alex Smith; this year he’s set the world on fire. There is nothing this kid can’t do.

He uses all of his receivers effectively. He gets away from defenders twice his size. He can even complete a pass under pressure with his left hand.

The Chiefs are in the driver’s seat to seal the #1 seed in the AFC. The only thing standing in their way is a resurgent Seahawks team.

The Task Got Tougher

If the Chiefs lose out, and the Chargers win out, the Chiefs will drop to the #5 seed and have to face a team like the Steelers or Patriots on the road.

This game is huge for both the Chiefs and Seahawks, who are chasing a wildcard berth of their own in the NFC. This will easily be the game of the weekend.

The Chiefs struggle to dominate teams. When push comes to shove, they can’t put teams away. From their 11 wins thus far, they have only beaten three teams by more than 10 points. The Browns, Bengals and the Jaguars.

They are yet to face any real adversity and come away with a win. They were beaten by the Rams in a shootout 54-51, two weeks later they barely beat the Raiders. They cannot maintain any stability.

When the Seahawks come for them, the Chiefs will fold like a wet pack of cards. Frank Clark, Bradley McDougald, and Bobby Wagner are going to bring the heat on Mahomes and the Chiefs offense.

Sure, they faced a solid Rams defense before, but the Rams decided not to play defense in their 105-point game. This is a whole different world for Mahomes.

Aussie punter Michael Dickson will ensure that Mahomes and company start every drive inside their own 5-yard line.

The Chiefs defense hasn’t shown up to play all year long. And sure, you score more points on offense and you win, right? Its not that simple anymore.

The Chiefs are about to go into the playoffs, where every team is good. If they don’t want this season to end early, they need to improve on D.

They dropped their lollies last week in the final quarter and let the Chargers walk all over them in Kansas City. If they do that this week, Russell Wilson will ensure Tyler Lockett and Doug Baldwin run circles around them.

This is not a game the Chiefs can sleep on. They need to be ready.

This will easily be the game of the weekend.

Prediction: The Seahawks get the job done in this one. 24-17.
