The NFL trade route became highly active on Friday morning when the Los Angeles Rams, Philadelphia Eagles, and Buffalo Bills announced a three-way trade. In this midst of all these moves, the Bills sent their 2014 first round pick, receiver Sammy Watkins, to Los Angeles.

Now, the various questions arise; Why was he traded? What kind of impact will he make in LA? As far as Watkins’ career, this trade marks a major turning point as he reunites with fellow WR and former Buffalo teammate Robert Woods and becomes, what is expected, the number one target for QB Jared Goff

Meanwhile, the Bills have stated that the team had made its efforts to make it work with their former star receiver. While at Buffalo, Watkins struggled with injuries but had his high points with his receiving ability.

How will this move affect the Rams going forward? Most think this is a major steal and win for the Rams offense, especially for Goff, who possibly has been given a potential number one receiver. Watkins put up over 2,000 yards and 15 touchdowns throughout his first two NFL seasons and was out with injury for most of his third campaign.

The Bills now move on from Watkins placing former Eagles receiver Jordan Matthews as the number one receiver. On top of that, the Bills have a second and third selection in next years draft, along with Kansas City’s first round pick for next season.

Watkins is currently in his final year of his current contract, in which the Bills decided not to pick up. It’ll be up to the Rams to decide whether to over him an extension or let him go after some time this season or afterward. A fun fact was that Watkins was on the Rams radar for their top pick in the 2014 draft.
