In a not so surprising move, the Oakland Raiders have sacked their General Manager Reggie McKenzie. McKenzie spent six years in Oakland before that was in the Green Bay Packers organization for 17 years. A 3-10 record is not believed to be the reason for McKenzie being shown the door.

Let’s be clear, Jon Gruden has full control over this entire franchise. He has made it well known, he wants to clean out the front office as he has done with the player personnel. This starts with the Raiders General Manager.

This is a step in the right direction for the Raiders organization. McKenzie was an old-school player in the way franchises are run. The Raiders need a fresh new face who can work with Gruden and Davis and bring this team forward into a new era.

When owner Mark Davis signed Gruden to a 10 year, $100 million contract, the line in the sand was drawn and Gruden would have absolute power over the direction of the franchise moving forward. This won’t be the only staff member to be fired before the start of the 2019 season. The axe has swung and Gruden is holding it again.
