Jason and Travis Kelce set apart a segment on their podcast, New Heights, to discuss the retirement of Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle, Aaron Donald. Former Philadelphia Eagle center, Jason Kelce wanted to share his perspective on just how good Donald was, and as arguably the best interior offensive line of his generation, his view should be taken as gospel truth.

“I gotta set this record straight because I see a lot of people on social media list all of Aaron’s sacks against quarterbacks. People [say, Donald] never had a sack against the Eagles. Oh, the Eagles had his number. Kelce said, We double-teamed him, we triple-teamed him every single game, alright. He is the only defensive tackle we have ever gone up against where the entire game plan is situated on not having him ruin the game. The only one.”

Game Planning for Aaron Donald

He further elaborated on the attention paid to Donald in an offense’s game plan,

I don’t even like people talking sh*t to the guy because I’m like y’all have no f*cking clue how good this dude was. He didn’t have a sack against the Eagles because we [made] it the entire game play. We didn’t care about another player on the field, and that’s just who the gods out of truth. It was, “Where’s 99 at?” We’re slid to him. One time this last game, Landon [Dickerson] got stuck on him because I thought he was out of the game, and he kind of snuck into his position. I didn’t know he saw sneaky. [After that,] we’re not going to 99 anymore. One play.

Kelce went on to point out that the only NFL’ers to make the Pro Bowl in every season of their career was Donald and Barry Sanders.

“Just an absolute bulldog of relentless energy, power, speed, skill. The guy had everything in my mind. He’s the best defensive player.” Kelce poured on the praise.

He stopped short of calling him the greatest of all time as he, personally, doesn’t like to compare across generations, but he did say Donald is the G.O.A.T. from when he was playing.

Donald’s Los Angeles Rams Career By The Numbers

In 10 NFL seasons, Donald racked up 543 tackles, 111 sacks, 176 tackles for loss, and 24 forced fumbles. He is third in NFL history in tackles for loss and he is also 28th on the official career sacks. Additionally, Donald was a 10-time Pro Bowler and eight-time First-Team All-Pro during his illustrious career, plus he was a three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
