Former Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker, Cameron Lynch, sat down with the Rams Skinny Podcast at Super Bowl LVIII Radio Row to talk all things Rams. When asked about the Rams decision to promote former Pass rush coordinator & linebackers coach, Chris Shula to defensive coordinator, Lynch gave a full-throated endorsement. The Rams defensive coordinator position became available when Raheem Morris was hired to be the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.

Cameron Lynch On New Los Angeles Rams Defensive Coordinator

“He was putting in his time. He was the janitor cleaning all the stuff up. But not only did he sweep up around the building, but he owned the building. He’s the janitor. He’s the CEO. He does it all. Do you get it? That mentality is really important. Whether you’re working in corporate America, whether you’re on radio row. It don’t matter, be a great person and do the tough stuff. Do the tough jobs and find success.”

Chris Shula’s Rise to the Top

Shula has been seen as an unknown quantity when it comes to his defensive scheme and voice within the Rams building. His hiring was also a tendency breaker for Sean McVay. McVay had gone with outside hires for defensive coordinator.

Lynch went on to describe McVay’s track record with hiring the right staff, “All of his coaches are head coaches. All these players are head coaches. That means whatever [McVay] is delivering, they can cook that and make it just as just as well.”
