The Los Angeles Chargers continue to make smart and prudent free agency moves to fill out their roster. On Friday, it was the addition of Kristian Fulton, cornerback, who was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in 2020, per Ian Rapoport

The Chargers certainly needed to add to the cornerback room with 2023 starter, Michael Davis, entering free agency. Not to mention the fact that the Chargers allowed the third most passing yards in the league last season.

The former second-round pick out of LSU isn’t the final answer at the position for the Chargers but will act as a bridge to when the Chargers will have more opportunities to add to the defense. The 1-year deal means just that. It will also offer Fulton a chance to play himself into a bigger deal. At 25 years old, he has plenty of gas left in the tank.

With 4.46 speed coming out of college, Fulton also has excellent explosive bursts and good change of direction skills. He also has a knack for getting in the way, with 25 career passes defended and four interceptions.

His best game from last season came against the Pittsburgh Steelers and George Pickens. In total, he was targeted serve times and allowed just four catches and 11 yards. Against Pickens, he allowed two catches for -1 yard.

He has plenty in his game to clean up. He has 22 missed tackles and committed 17 penalties in four seasons. He is inconsistent in coverage, which is indicative of man-cover cornerbacks like Fulton. He also has struggled to stay on the field, having missed time in each season, going on the Injured Reserve in three of his four seasons, and finishing last season on the IR with a hamstring injury.

He will likely line up on the outside opposite Asante Samuel Jr., but can also play nickel
