A new report claims that being able to have Justin Herbert as a quarterback has made the Los Angeles Chargers head coach job the most desirable in the NFL.
After a disastrous 63-21 defeat to rivals the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday Night Football, the Los Angeles Chargers handed head coach Brandon Staley and general manager Tom Telesco their working papers. The decision ended weeks of speculation as the pressure began to mount with Staley headed to his worst finish yet as LA’s head coach.

Now, the Chargers will be among the teams in search of a new head coach early in 2024. They will be competing against the Carolina Panthers, Las Vegas Raiders, and possibly the Washington Commanders and New England Patriots for the top available coaches on the market. However, it seems that Los Angeles may have a major advantage over all of those teams.

On Sunday morning, FOX Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer explained why the Chargers head coach and general manager jobs are among the most desirable in the league right now.
“You talk to head coaching candidates, GM candidates — even coaches and GMs on other teams — and they are like, ‘We wish we could be over there in Los Angeles,’ and here’s why. No. 1, they are doing a lot of great things and they are opening up a training facility right down here by the beach. But they have that quarterback, Justin Herbert. It is a new coach’s dream to work with a guy like that. I’m telling you, this is the prime spot that everybody wants to go to.”

That is big news for the Chargers because it means they will likely land the best available candidate early next year. Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is viewed by many as the most talented coach that will be available but there is also a chance Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh could be up for grabs in 2024.
