Jim Harbaugh’s coaching staff with the Los Angeles Chargers is suddenly taking hold after the NFL team handed the former Michigan Wolverines head coach a massive multi-year contract.

We reported earlier on Sunday that Greg Roman will be brought in to play a prominent role on the offensive side of the ball. It now looks like he’ll serve as Harbaugh’s offensive coordinator after the two spent four years together with the San Francisco 49ers earlier in their careers.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler pretty much verified that Sunday evening amid another report that former Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Marcus Brady has been hired by Los Angeles. Brady, who served as an assistant with the Philadelphia Eagles last season, was a candidate for the offensive coordinator position in Southern California. He will serve as the Chargers’ pass-game coordinator.

Brady, 44, was the Colts’ offensive coordinator in 2021 and 2022. That unit ranked ninth in scoring during his first season, but fell off to the tune of a No. 30 ranking in his final season with Indianapolis.

Prior to that, he served as both the assistant quarterbacks coach and quarterbacks coach with the Colts. Brady also has experience calling plays for the CFL’s Montreal Alouettes and Toronto Argonauts. This experience should come in handy.

In addition to Brady and Roman, Harbaugh brought Jesse Minter with him to Los Angeles to be the Chargers’ defensive coordinator.

Other reported hires include Mike Devlin (offensive line) and Jay Harbaugh (safeties). Ryan Ficken is expected to be retained as special teams coordinator.
