On Friday, we learned that retired four-time All-Pro linebacker NaVorro Bowman was set to interview with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Now, thanks to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, we’ve learned Bowman has been hired as the Chargers’ linebackers coach.

Bowman and Jim Harbaugh overlapped for four seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. In three of those seasons, Bowman was named to the All-Pro team. The fourth year was lost due to a season-ending ACL injury.

Still, it’s clear the two ended on good terms. Bowman later joined Harbaugh’s staff at Michigan, working under new Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter as a defensive analyst. Now, Bowman’s taking his talent to the NFL again, this time as a coach.

At 35 years old, Bowman can have a very bright future ahead of him as a coach, in addition to already having a successful playing career that wrapped up after the 2017 season.

Who knows, the three-time Pro Bowl linebacker might even be better in this role than he was as a player. If so, the Chargers are getting a heck of a hire.
