“This is the best offensive tackle class in a long time,” NFL.com analyst Brian Baldinger started his response when questioned by LAFB Network at Super Bowl LVIII Radio Row about what the Los Angeles Chargers should do with the 5th overall pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft. “There are no less than eight prospects that can be taken in the first round. But that doesn’t mean anything. You got to get the right one. Rashawn Slater was the right one.”
Brian Baldinger On The Los Angeles Chargers Draft
During his introductory press conference, Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh listed protecting Justin Herbert first when talking about his offense. Chargers right tackle Trey Pipkins allowed the eighth-most pressures among tackles last season. So going in that direction would make a lot of sense from Harbaugh’s perspective.
Baldinger finished answering the question by taking a left turn and saying, “It’s a great draft for running backs.” And later added the context that Harbaugh wants to run the ball.
