The Kansas City Chiefs officially announced their regular season 53-man roster for the start of the regular season last week. The Chiefs parted ways with some good football players who seek to compete for other NFL team rosters. However, the Chiefs secured a slam dunk with undrafted star rookie linebacker Ben Niemann from the University Of Iowa.

Ben Niemann brings his brown bag lunch to practice

Kansas City faced the Houston Texans in their home opener in the first preseason game. After a dismal start for the Chiefs defense, one player who stood out the most was Chiefs linebacker: Ben Niemann. His hard hat and brown bag lunch approach kept him hungry and focused as a football player.

A smart player with great instincts

He stands 6’3″ and 233 lbs. with great intuition, explosiveness and agility. Niemann combines his power and physical prowess into one total package. Niemann has one natural unteachable trait for which he sniffs out offensive plays before the snap. Secondly, Niemann has the heart to play this game which catapulted him into the NFL.

During a preseason game versus the Atlanta Falcons, Niemann read the Falcons quarterback pass play and jumped an interception for a touchdown.

This determined warrior who made the Chiefs roster after final cut is one of those exceptional NFL players, who come along every decade. His long journey to the NFL is an all American feel-good story which gives hope to all people who work hard and dream. Niemann’s long road mentality keeps him striving to be the best he can be.

Niemann played high school football at Sycamore High, in Sycamore Illinois. He earned first team all-state, all-conference and lettered three times as a wide receiver and free safety.  He finished the senior season with 78 tackles, also had 45 receptions for 1,050 yards and 15 touchdowns along with two punt-return touchdowns. Niemann was also a two-year letterman.

The perfect number 56 for a player to legit to quit

Ben Niemann joins a long list of Chiefs players who wore the jersey number 56. The most recent was former all-pro Chief LB Derrick O. Johnson. The 56 fits Niemann’s heart and playing style perfectly. It’s not the number which makes Ben Niemann; it’s Ben Niemann who earned his way to this number.

The NFL now has two Bens in the league. One is Big Ben Roethlisberger and the other Ben “Too Legit To Quit” Niemann.
