With a new general manager in charge of the Houston Texans, fans were anxious to see what Brian Gaine would do this offseason. He has made a good first impression, to say the least. The Texans had a busy offseason, but it was necessary. It began to feel like the Texans were on the outside looking in in their division, but with a flurry of signings, Texans fans have reason to be optimistic.

Offensive Tackle, Seantrel Henderson, B

Houston started off its offseason fairly quiet, bolstering their offensive line. Henderson spent his first four seasons with the Buffalo Bills and started all 16 games in his rookie season. He has dealt with some health issues and suspensions, but adding depth for the offensive line was the main focus for the Texans this offseason.

Guard, Zach Fulton, B+

Fulton fills another need on the offensive line for the Texans. He’s versatile, can play center and guard, and those are the players Head Coach Bill O’Brien looks for. He previously played four seasons for the  Chiefs, protecting Alex Smith. Again, the more the merrier for this offensive line that was decimated by injuries toward the end of the season.

Guard, Senio Kelemete, B

While most have never heard of Kelemete until he signed with the Texans, if you ask any Saints fan about him, they’ll say the Texans got a steal. He did all the dirty work for the Saints offensive line and that is what the Texans line needs. He wanted to have the chance to start and he found that with the Texans. He’s very versatile as well, with experience at both guard and tackle.

Cornerback, Aaron Colvin, B+

The secondary needed some talent and speed, and they get some of that with Colvin. He played a key role in that tough Jaguars defense last year, playing the slot corner. Texans were looking for a cornerback capable of playing the slot so bringing Colvin along could do wonders.

Safety Tyrann Mathieu, A+

In one of the more surprising moves this offseason, the Texans landed Mathieu on a one year, $7 million deal. Bolstering that secondary was second on the list for the Texans offseason and they accomplished that with the addition of Mathieu. He can play anywhere, defend anyone, and locate the ball, which was missing last year. The Texans finally got their safety, an absolute stud who they stole on a “prove it” deal. Looking forward to seeing what he does for this defense.
