Contrary To Recent Reports, Odell Beckham Jr. Will Not Be Joining The Buffalo Bills

Odell Beckham Jr.'s future is still up in the air heading into the 2022 season. All signs point to a return to the Los Angeles Rams, but will it happen?

It would be fair to say that Odell Beckham Jr.’s personality, and career, haven’t been a predictable ride. Pretty much his entire NFL career to date has been more like a rollercoaster and one that really hit new heights last season when he played a key role in helping the Los Angeles Rams to an unexpected Super Bowl triumph.

Therefore, given the media circus that follows Beckham Jr.’s every move, it wasn’t immediately clear if reports emerging on Twitter about a move to the Buffalo Bills were false or not.

When the Rams edged out the Cincinnati Bengals in the Super Bowl in February, a result that not many would have backed via any online sportsbooks, it earned Beckham Jr. a first-ever title, but the game was something of a bittersweet affair for the 29-year-old. He scored the game’s first touchdown but then suffered a knee injury which then turned out to be a torn ACL, and faces a long period of recovery.

Beckham Jr. doesn’t currently have a team, with his short-term Los Angeles Rams deal having expired, and he is now a free agent. It’s unlikely anyone will give him a new contract until we get nearer to the start of the new season, but a fake account on Twitter managed to fool many.

An account claiming to be Bleacher Report claimed that the Buffalo Bills had brought in Beckham Jr., and it was a tweet that attracted over 15,000 likes and led to the player himself deciding to have some fun.

He took to Twitter to ask how much he signed for and was looking forward to teaming up with his former Rams teammate Von Miller, and whilst his response was in jest, it does make you wonder just what the future holds for Beckham Jr.

Clinching a Super Bowl should have been the start of a new era for Beckham Jr., but injury issues have once again resurfaced, and it’s unclear where his future now lies. His move from the Cleveland Browns to the Rams worked well for all parties.

He picked up five touchdowns in eight games in the regular season and two further touchdowns in the post-season, and the smart money is on the Los Angeles Rams offering him a new deal ahead of the upcoming season, though this is by no means a nailed on certainty.

A move back to the Browns seems very unlikely as Beckham Jr. has just sold his $3.3 million house west of Cleveland, though to be fair, the way he left the team was always going to make a return next to impossible.

Yahoo Sports columnist Charles Robinson believes a move to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers might be an option;

“If OBJ rides this out, let’s say he rides it out, he’s looking healthy, he still hasn’t signed, and it’s like, ‘Hey, I’m back in the mix in November. I’m running,’”

“I think if Tampa Bay is where they expect to be in November, I absolutely think that Tampa Bay is the kind of team that could say, ‘Hey man, let’s just go do this. Let’s go win this.’”
