After finishing the 2017-18 season winning six of their last seven games, head coach Anthony Lynn undoubtedly made a positive impact on the Los Angeles Chargers organization in his first season. Sometimes it’s not just about the wins. As a fan, just to see the culture of a team change on an upward trajectory that can give hope for the future success of the team.

The Impact

The coaching influence by Lynn in his second season with the Chargers has been quite respectable. After having a successful first year, it is quite clear he knows how to win in the NFL. What makes Lynn’s impact so remarkable is the fact he is doing it in the powerful AFC West.

In a league where every game matters, Lynn has found early success due to being extremely relatable to his players. He makes no excuses, plus he is willing to give the benefit of the doubt on miscues during games.

During the Week 1 loss to the Denver Broncos wide receivers Tyrell Williams and Travis Benjamin both uncharacteristically dropped touchdown passes. Instead of placing blame on those miscues, Lynn showed support, with a touch of tough love. That formula for him seems to be working well earning the respect from the players.

The Outcome

The Chargers, with the move from San Diego have yet to find a ton of success overall. Not to mention, it’s been five years since their last playoff appearance. For Lynn, it will take more than just nine wins in a season to make a believer out of most fans.  A playoff appearance for a fairly new coach and a franchise fresh off of a move would indeed solidify Lynn’s position with the franchise.
