Chargers fans can finally rest easy. Star quarterback, Justin Herbert has signed a new contract extension, the eve before 2023 Training Camp kicks off.

There was chatter that both Herbert and Joe Burrow were in a bit of a holding pattern, waiting for the other QB to sign in hopes of out-earning the other. Well, Justin Herbert clearly wanted to put the contract talk in the rear-view window and only focus on football heading into camp.

It will be a 5-Year, $262.5 Million contract extension.

Big-Time Money For Justin Herbert

The deal is good for an average of $52.5 million per season, which gives him the highest current average salary per year edging out Lamar Jackson by $500,000, and ties Herbert to the Chargers until 2029.

The 5-Year extension will include $133.7 million fully guaranteed, $193.7 million with an injury guarantee, and can potentially spring to $218.7 million guaranteed.

Per Adam Schefter, the contract also contains a no-trade clause.

We will have plenty more regarding this story on the LA Football Network, but the Chargers have locked in their star quarterback, and now everyone can get back to focusing on football!
