Chargers Biggest Losers After Ram’s Win

Jared Goff threw for five touchdowns and a Thursday Night record 465 yards as they gallantly stood proudly on their home turf; convinced they laid claim as the sole proprietor of the City of Angels.

The Chargers could not respond to their dominant war cries.

Goff and the extensive Ram army surge to a 4-0 record alongside becoming a unanimous choice as the top spot in everyone’s power rankings; all while the recently defeated Bolts looked idly on from their couches.

The Rams thoroughly took care of the Bolts Sunday afternoon only to bounce back and defeat Bleacher Report’s No. 1 ranked team heading into the new campaign four days later.

In the same timeframe, the king of basketball took his throne to Staples Center to don the royal purple and yellow while the biggest name in baseball resides in Anaheim. Not to mention hotshot Manny Machado joining the Dodgers as they are moments away from their sixth straight playoff appearance.

The Chargers could live with their comparisons as the NFL’s Clippers, but even the former continues to make waves with extensive discussions about acquiring both Kawhi Leonard and Jimmy Butler.

Los Angeles is currently one of the largest epicenters for sports and sports personalities, and that is a tough crowd for the Bolts to call neighbors after years of being the headliner for the city in motion down south.

They are now just the opening act for the Rams, the Lakers, and the Dodgers while their San Diego fans stare upon the ghost town that is SDCCU stadium.

It’s not for a lack of a talented roster. The Chargers remain one of the best well-rounded teams in football. What they lack in fireworks they make up for with solid play. But Brandin Cooks and his early career quarterback carousel is more interesting than Keenan Allen. Todd Gurley‘s electric play is more arousing than Melvin Gordon‘s style. Sean McVay and Jared Goff are simply more exciting than the old gaucho Philip Rivers.

The Chargers routine slow start could be an indictment on their incredibly difficult early schedule, facing off against Super Bowl contenders in Kansas City and the neighboring Rams.

With winnable games through November, that could give this team a spark and real momentum, they can enter the Colosseum again to challenge the Rams for the self-appointed crown. But one thing stood out above the rest after the Rams’ convincing Thursday Night victory.

LA is their town and it is not big enough for the both of them.

The Chargers look to get back to .500 as they host the Jimmy Garoppolo-less 49ers this Sunday.
